It Takes a Village

This lone phrase, like so many in our world, can spark a range of emotions within us; and, if we are being honest with one another, our emotions can often block us from seeing the meaning of the phrase, preventing us from implementing the teaching.

Often times, the hardest things to hear, are the things we need to hear the most.

Let us strip from our memories, as much as we can, any time the phrase has been used and caused a negative emotion to rise within us; and let us instead define it for ourselves now.

It takes a village.

What does that mean? At it’s core?

We need one another.

Plain and simple. Let us build then, from there.

You see, in the village, everyone works for the village, if the village is to truly flourish. We need one another, to help hold us accountable, to build one another up, not break one another down.

Build up to what?

Well, this is a Christian blog site, and, to be completely honest with our readers, we are not huge fans of the term, “Christian.” Before we allow our emotions to take control and become offended at reading that, let us, like children, ask why.

Why do we not like it?

Because it can invoke the very negative emotions in those we wish to reach, that shut down the very neurological pathways in our brain that we are required to have open in order to learn. (Keep an open mind.)

The truth is, many of us have been hurt by “Christians,” but the reality is, those who hurt in the name of Jesus, are not truly following Jesus. So, we prefer to use the descriptive nomenclature, “Disciples of Jesus Christ,” in order to eliminate any confusion.

We, are disciples of Jesus Christ. We follow Him, and encourage others to get to know Him, as He is, not how someone else may have negatively portrayed Him to be.

With that in mind, we must focus on somethings that may be hard to hear, we must do some soul searching, and pray for constant refinement.

Daily. (Luke 9:23)

Sanctification is a life-long process. One where we must constantly be on guard, like a watcher on the wall, and, if everyone is watching, like-minded in Jesus Christ, then we are watching for the same things, for ourselves, and the village.

When the village is like-minded and the core foundations that make up the very thoughts we have, are centered on love, mercy, grace, and growth… Then, things begin to change, first in us, and how we “see” the world, then the world around us, because our world, has become centered around Him.

It has been said, “Be the change you want to see in the world,” often attributed to Gandhi. Well, as disciples of Christ, we want to see Jesus in the world, all the while remembering that He did not come to condemn the world, but that it might be saved through Him. (John 3:17)

So, we seek Him, that we may come to know Him, not just know of Him.

And brothers and sisters, that kind of soul searching, truth-seeking love, can only be done with Him, and those that truly seek to know Him.

Not just on Sunday’s, but every second, every minute, every hour, of everyday.

Please, do not let this task seem impossible in your minds. For impossible, that is worldly, but with God, all things are possible.

We cannot tell you how often we will post here, it will occur as the Holy Spirit moves us to, on topics and lessons we feel led to write about. In the meantime, we encourage you to subscribe if you felt led to. We will not ask for money, if you feel encouraged to support the mission, the Spirit will guide you on how and where to do so.

Thank you for your time…

Matthew 4:17
